Spalding

Albert Goodwill Spalding, was born in 1850 in Byron, Illinois. Young promising baseball, he made his debut at the age of 22 in the top American league, the NA (National Association).
The young Spalding immediately stands out for his enterprising spirit: a true fan of the game of baseball, he contributed in 1876 to the creation of the current National League (NL), introducing rules and standards that are still part of the modern concept of baseball today. Just 5 years after his debut Albert Goodwill, with just $ 800 starting capital, founded the Spalding Company.
Spalding's pioneering spirit led him to seek technical excellence and innovation also in the equipment of other sports: from 1880 to 1898 the Spalding Company collected an enviable series of firsts: for the United States he created the first tennis ball, football and golf and signs the first ever basketball in the world. The first Shop Spalding was born in 1885 in New York's most prestigious street, Fifth Avenue.
In its more than 135 years of success, the Spalding Company has undergone evolutions and updates in order to be always in step with the times, if not to anticipate them. Next to the sports sector, a line of classy accessories and leather goods has evolved.
