Perna company was founded in Palermo in 1937, when in via Divisi, a few steps from home, Antonino Perna and his wife Rosalia open their typography. Over the years, the couple's eight sons collaborate in the family business; Meanwhile, Rosalia also deals with the hand binding of notebooks.
After the dark years of the World War 2th, in 1960, Antonino and Rosalia opened their first stationery store in Piazzetta Messinese, in via Roma. They were helped by their sons Pinuccia, Rosetta and Settimo; who worked in the nearby typography located in via Divisi.
In 1968, at the age of 34, the fifth-born Settimo opened his stationery shop in the current location in via Roma 68/70. The company preserved the characteristic of a family business. These were the years of the economic boom and the Perna stationery store in via Roma became a point of reference not only for the city of Palermo; the shop worked and nowadays works as a retail and wholesale point of sale with its own sales agents throughout Sicily.
In 1984, the eldest son of Settimo, Antonino as his grandfather, continues the family tradition by joining the company.
Ten years later, in 1994, the second daughter Rossana will also follow in her footsteps, starting to work in the stationery store in via Roma.
In 1999, stimulated and supported by dad Settimo and mom Anna, Antonino and his sister Rossana, on December 20 open in via Sperlinga, a stone's throw from the central via Ruggero Settimo, the Cartoleria Perna s.a.s.
During its first twenty years of activity, this new store also becomes a point of reference for enthusiasts and collectors from all over Italy.
Among the most prestigious events, the Pelikan Hubs, an event that takes place every year on the last Friday of September, in over 150 cities and in about 50 countries around the world, is hosted by Cartoleria Perna s.a.s. in via Sperlinga,
In the last three years in Palermo therefore Pelikan Hub has achieved the largest number of participants at national level and placing itself among the top twenty host sales points in the world.
